Will You Be A Board Member?
The Alliance supports PAB's work gives the community a voice in holding power to account by nominating 3 to 6 people each year to sit as members of the Board.
PABA is seeking people who reflect the diversity and lived experience of the Rochester community to be those representatives on the PAB.
A PAB Board member must:

Have lived in the city for a minimum of 12 months prior to appointment.

Be willing to do this important, justice-driven work as a volunteer.

Be able to devote time to creating and supporting Board bylaws.

Work with PAB’s executive director, Rochester Police Department (RPD), and the Locust Club (RPD’s police union), to develop a disciplinary matrix.

Be willing to devote 3 years to the PAB.

Have no family members who are current or former members of the RPD.

Not serve as an elected official, or have been an elective official in the past 3 years, or be an immediate family member of a current elected official.

Never have been an attorney who has, or have an immediate family member who has, represented any party in a lawsuit regarding the RPD, chief of police, or the Locust Club.

Be willing to assess RPD policies, procedures, patterns, and practices annually, and make recommendations for change to the chief of police, mayor and city council.

Complete trainings about local law.

Applicants must reside within the city of Rochester and we especially encourage applications from people of color, people with disabilities, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and people who have limited income.
